The costs of treating cancer usually exceed insurance coverage … So: the economic burden of prostate cancer alone in Russia amounted to 3.7 billion rubles a year. These and other important data were the result of a study conducted by the Research Institute of Clinical and Economic Expertise and Pharmaceutical Economics of the Russian National Research Medical University named after Pirogov.
Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most commonly diagnosed oncological diseases in the male population of Russia. Over the past ten years, there has been an increase in the incidence and mortality rates from this disease. So, prostate cancer ranks third (11% of the total) in the structure of the primary incidence of malignant neoplasms. In the period from 2000 to 2010. a high rate of increase in the incidence of prostate cancer was noted – an average of 9.83% per year. According to 2010 data, there is a continuation of the growth trend in mortality rates from prostate cancer – compared with 2009, mortality from prostate cancer increased by 2.1%. Continue reading
